Feb 3,  cloudy today, actually the freezing rain started just as I got home from a quick trip to the big city,  Saint John NB, actually it's quite a small city and one of the most confusing to drive in...  with the river and the Harbour aand street names, being repeated on the  East and West sides, very few straight streets....  Fortunately I usually have a good sense of direction so when I turn at the wrong corner I usually don't get too lost, although I have a MAP,  real women can read maps!

To go with the robin I saw on Monday we saw a Cardinal in the front yard on Tuesday.  They do live on the Island but he had never honoured us with his presence before, wouldn't stick around for a photo op though!  Yesterday's excitement was hoisting a jacuzi tub from the deck into the upstairs of the house, fortunately it didn't weigh very much, but the board it was suppose to slide on wanted to come with it, and the second storey deck that we  we were standing on had a thin layer  of ice on it to increase the excitement, and no railings when the tub was swung round at me, Gord commented that there was a nice snow bank under the deck????? (Ice bank try). The tub is suppose to be stratigically placed in front of one of the upstairs windows facing the cove so I can watch the fishing boats come in while  lying in bubbles relaxing after a hard day at the torch.  (with my glass of....)  A whole  new concept in 'Widow's Walks'.

Angus got a couple of votes from Hawaii so wants me to make him a surf board instead of the ice cube....

Feb 1, the beginning of another month.  The second day of sun in a row!  Yesterday we saw our first Robin, I think he was really lost, it was sunny but no worms anywhere in sight!  We need a lot of really hot days to get rid of all this snow so that he can find his worms!

Checked to see if any more of the search engines have found me and discovered this...  almost better than the recipe!
"Y&R Online | Daily Recaps Archives... he went and got the ice cream bowl and showed everyone. ... He left abruptly and Lynne was sure that the secret was something that would ruin Isabella "... Now, where this gets more interesting is that I told Gord I was now "Starring"  in a soap opera, he took one look at it and said Yeah Young & Restless! Now I know why the house isn't progressing he spends his afternoons immersed in the soaps!

I've had a 'small'  stained glass repair job hanging over me since Dec, decided yesterday afternoon that the dungeon might just be warm enough to take the piece apart, (42 F according to my kiln controller). Only one piece was broken, but the foil was ripped or decomposing on most of the other pieces.  When I finally got it apart the pieces of glass looked like they had been chewed out of the sheets of glass no grinding at all, no wonder the foil all fell off!  Someone had tried to glue the head back on the first time the foil gave up, and then the final straw was the painted eye floating  off in the water as I was trying to clean off the residual glue.

The book I'm reading right now, really high quality literature as usual, said that in order to get over artist's block you need to purge your memory of everything that could be causing the block and the best way to do this is to read the phone book!  Didn't specify white or yellow pages, I think I'll stick to staring at the cove through my flickering flame!

Jan 30  Tired of the weather, lots of changes to the site today,  the hearts have finally been added to the Fresh from the Flame link, there are also some hearts made into jewellery for sale through the gallery link, you can also get to the Jewellery from the Gallery Hours page.  A bunch of my jewellery that was originally in the gallery has been moved to the Beed Archives page, access to that is the middle of the Home page.  On my Gallery computer I found that I had to refresh the pages to get the changes, same old same old was loading, so if you don't see anything new or different try refreshing your page!  This computer seems to load from the cached copy even when it's on line!  All prices listed on the site are Canadian $.
Watched the original American Grafitti movie last night, the DVD came with both the original and the sequel, we'd both seen the original although I couldn't remember most of it!  At the end of the movie Gord commented that it would be a really good soundtrack....  at which time I pointed out that I have it!  It's one of the few hundred records that we moved from Saskatchewan!  All we need to do is transfer them all to CD or something ....  Set up a turntable.  Actually noticed that some of the mega all in one 'Portable' systems now have a turntable on top to go with the 5 CD changer and the two tape decks and the radio...  What more could you ask for!

Jan 29   Today is sunny and much warmer than forcast the wind has died down and the snow may even be melting.  Had an interesting email conversation with a friend in Alaska who lives on an Island in the Panhandle yesterday.  We were discusing Island dining, now, I can come and go more or less whenever I want to (if our ferries are running) before 10:20 pm  for free.  The Alaska ferry system certainly isn't free and you don't just hop on the ferry to go out for dinner at the next stop, at least most people wouldn't.  Her description of  restaurants where she lives (and no I'm not telling you which Alaskan  town she lives in!)  follows...  " Sounds like your island is like our island, although we do have more restaurants.... more ain't necessarily better though.  Ours are distinguished by being pretty bad... almost all of them have menus which span the gamut from Chinese to Italian to Phillipino to Mexican to Greek, believe it or not.... none of it would any of the aforementioned ethnic groups recognize!."   I told her  that they were  just catering to the Yuppie hords by providing fusion cooking!   The bad part about having the gallery open is I don't get any beads made,  the hearts are made, actually, they are the background to my gallery hours (as a slightly distorted watermark photo).  Just need to be put where they belong.
