Oct 30
G got succesfully delivered to the airport, as we were leaving for the airport he discovered that his plane left at 1:30 not 12:30... he got taken to the airport anyway since we were ready to go! He spent last night in SJ and is on is he way Deer Island this morning, I'm sure Emkins will be clinging to his ankle for the next couple of days!
I went out for lunch yesterday with a friend from my days as a competitive swimmer.... I was never very good I had too much fun! Lunch was very good... Today is the only day this week that I'm not going out to lunch with someone...

Oct 28
The party is over, we're back at mom's, G flies back to NB tomorrow. G and I spent Friday and part of yesterday putting up Hallowe'en decorations at my sisters. We used Gel on G's hair it was a bit like a concrete helmet when it was done. I printed him a couple of Camel Cigarette box labels... and then made him a 'package of cigarettes' to wear rolled in his sleeve... there are some rather interesting camel cigarette labels!! I borrowed a square dancing skirt and crinoline to wear with my poodle sweater.... Not terribly comfortable .... I spent the entire night wondering if theskirt and crinolin were going to fall off as they were balanced rather precariously on my hips... not only did they not fall off I didn't spill anything on them either! (I wore the skirt back to front so if I spilled someting it would look like I'd sat on it... and not just been a clutz!) The pictures are on my camera, now all we have to do is persaude the card to download onto the computer when I get home....

Oct 26Well summer is over back to normal temps +7 or 42ish yesterday was a record breaking 25.6 (77 F) It was nice while it lasted, Todays entertainment was trying to find white adhesive tape to turn my burgandy suede shoes into saddle shoes for the Hallowe'en Party... I changed my costume.... G and I walked to the local drug store the druggist said that the 'surgical' tape at $5.69 a roll was too expensive we should go to a sporting goods store and buy hockey tape... Think what we actually ended up with is sock tape as it was shiny ... G is suppose to be going as 'Jimmy Dean' or someone similar.. It'll be interesting to see how much oil it takes to slick down his curls!

Oct 25 I guess it's been over two weeks since I last had a computer that I could type on... I managed to delete a few emails while we were in Vancouver over the weekend but I was kneeling on the floor sitting on my feet tryping to type on a laptop... so I decided not to try updating! Since October 10.. we took the ferry back to Bellingham, (Got a rental car with BC plates on it!!!) spent two nights at the Palmer Hotel in La Conner... One of my favorite tourist towns.... then onto the Olympic peninsula for one night in Port Townsend at the Water street Hotel.....Then off to Sheldon WA to get some glass at Frantz... I bought one rod of each of the new Vetrephone name that colour contest rods... I still think that the bilious green glass that Vetrephone calls ochre should be renamed "monkey Vomit Green" MVG is much more descriptive! Doubt if any of my names will make it onto the official name list! I also got a bunch of his hand pulled colours If it was over $40 a pound I needed it.... Next stop was Port Angeles where we caught the ferry to Vancouver Island.... we drove out to Tofino on the Pacific Ocean and spent three nights at a B&B thar practically hung over the water ... the price of restaurant meals was horrendous 50 -100% higher than any where else we stayed. Wednesday we took a boat tour up the coast to the Hot springs... they are natural rock hot pools that have the tide washing into them... or in our case the tide surging into them... There were only 6 of us on the tour as the other companies all thought that the day was too rough so stayed home! (Rough made the boat ride much more fun.... we went up and up and up and then crashed down into the troughs ... the woman from Paris France looked a bit green, the rest of us were having fun!)With only 6 people there wasn't too much competition for the hot water! From the boat landing we had to walk about a mile on a board walk through the rain forest to get to the hot pools. On the way to the hot springs we took a brief tour to go whale watching off Vargas island... there were at least three grey whales in residence so there was lots of 'blowing... but no breaching whales or tails.... From Tofino we went to vancouver and hit the end of LING LING It poured for three days straight.... YUCK!!!! Monday night we spent in Bellingham so that we would be close to the airport... Both our flights were on time and customs was a breeze.... Today we woke up to a nice hot sunny day but the wind switched to the north mid afternoon and the clouds have rolled in....

Oct 10Still raining today with a wind advisory to make sure that the rain really soaks in! Of course Ketchikan is in the Rian forest and has the second highest annual rain fall in AK that may actually be in the entire US not just AK. Yesterday to walk off the turkey dinner we went shopping in K. All the tourist places have boarded up their windows, but a lot of the nicer galleries and things are locally owned and stay open year round. I bought myself a ball of sock yarn that contains ground up crab shells amongst other things! (See if Em thinks my yarn smells yummy!) Gord went Kayaking yesterday morning as it wasn't raining.... Daisy the dog and spent a lot of the time that he was paddling looking for beach glass. I found a bunch of stuff that was double thickness I guess it's bottle glass that been fused in beach fires... We get back on the ferry tonight at 4 to head back down to Bellingham.

Oct 8 Happy Canadian Thanksgiving from Ketchikan AK... It's raining here today but that is the norm the sun actually came out a couple of times yesterday which is quite unusual! The ferry ride was fun although the weather on Saturday afternoon got quite nasty. The last cruise ship of the season was early last week so most of the tourist traps have close their doors for the season and gone south for the winter! The local galleries etc will be open tomorrow. Judy has a kayak which she keeps offering G I think he's waiting for the rain to stop... may be a long wait!

Oct 5 Heading back to Bellingham today to catch the ferry to Ketchikan... and no they didn't deport our car yesterday.. We've spent the last two nights 'camped' in an old airsteam trailer on the beach.. with the waves crasing right outside the door and G's feet in my face! Lucky me. We went for a walk on the beach yesterday morning... there is a fairly elderly dog that wobbles around the house... We opened the door to go for a walk and she was out the door and gone... prancing down the beach like a pupppy...she took us for a walk.... she (Sumo) did follow us 'home' when we turned around and came back, but we did have visions of chasing this dog up and down the beach all day!
I mailed myself a 25 pound box yesterday for $29.00 so my small checked bag now has plenty of room to buy glass!!! and then there's G's absolutely empty second piece of luggage just waiting to be filled!!!!
Oct 4 Well Gord didn't make his flight to Bellingham yesterday.. he bought a new ticket to Vancouver.... Or he might have been able to go to Bellingham via Vancouver and Salt Lake City and.... for mega bucks. The flight from Edmonton to Vancouver was only $135 that would be 136.82 US! I actually caught an earlier flight to Seattle from Portland as everything was running almost an hour late and they were happy to move people onto earlier planes... so I was in Seattle in plenty of time to sit at the gate and watch the people get off the flight from Edmonton.... Got a phone call from G about 90 minutes later saying that he was in Vancouver... can you come and get me???? I got to Bellingham... I had been smart enough to tell G that he should put my name on the car rental agreement... I got to pay for it too, How lucky can I get! Bellingham is one of those airports where they open up a long length of wall and throw the suitcases through the hole, and wonders of wonders mine were both there, not sure if Homeland Security opened my tool case or not... the rental car guy wanted to know if I was transporting bricks! Nope, just steel plates not bricks! Hopped in my car drove to the border... Border Guy..." Where are you from where did you get this car from???" I rented it in Bellingham and I'm on my way to pick up my husband at the Vancouver Airport... he missed his flight ..border guy... Well a Canadian Citizen can't drive a Car with US registration in Canada... I could make you go back but I'll let you through this time...
Collected G Ate supper... came back across the border but we are in Point Roberts which is one of those places that you have to come and go through Canada to get too.. a bit like Campobello in NB, we're spending today in Vancouver so I hope they don't decide to deport our car when we try to go into Canada later this morning... they can do whatever they want tomorrow!

Oct 3 Just checked G's flights he left SJ on time at 6:30 am (That's 2:30am Pacific time!) However he left Montreal over 30 minutes late... haven't checked the Alaska Air schedule out of Edmonton... so don't know how much time he has there... think he'll have to go through customs in Edmonton too... It was pouring her a few minutes ago but now it's just drizzling. Yesterday we went to the American Craft museum.... the galleries were all closed but they have a lovely gift shop with work from both Canada & the US... I asked about the Canadian work they said that they represented North America but didn't have any work from Mexico.... All I have to ad to my luggage here is a free Ornament Magazine and 6 oz of dichro glass... Hopefully I used that much shampoo etc while I was here, also my clothes got washed... clean clothes should be lighter than dirty ones shouldn't they?

Oct 2 Well it's still gloomy here although the sun did try and shine yesterday... tried sitting out side in while the sun was shining but I managed to plant myself on an ant hill... I retreated to the deck! Tomorrow I head North to meet up with Gord, We're both flying on Alaska Airlines and are suppose to get on the same flight in Seattle. I guess Dad questioned how we were getting to Bellingham as he didn't think that there was even an airport there! I have a gmail account and there are ads running down the sides of the email based on the contents of your emails....(SCARY!) That's how I discovered that Bellingham had an airport! I packed my 'tool' case yesterday, (my clothes are still all over the floor) I have a collection of the little home land security stuffers that HS keep leaving in cases that they open... I was thinking of artistically arranging them on top of the suitcase full of tools.... Between Sacramento and here they must have totally emptied that case as nothing was where it started... Not sure how metal tools could be considered a prohibited item! I'm hoping to mail most of the tools home from Vancouver on Thursday....

Oct 1 Still gloomy, not sure if it's raining... The class is over and I have all these huge beads that I have to fit into my already overweight luggage... I could just string them and wear them around my neck and then if I get made at someone I could whirl them round my head and fling them.... Is that an aboriginal weapon or an argentinian one? Actually the class was a lot of fun.. Larry teaches up to 40 workshops a year.... since there are only 52 weekends he doesn't get much free time! He's off to Australia this week to teach a masters class. Janelle demoed little hollow wound perfume bottles yesterday, I've made them before but never with feet, with feet they are much more dainty then they are with flattened bottoms. We tired out a fork style button mandrel.... G and I really have to get my button mandrel functioning without plasticine.... It turns into gooey muck after the 2nd or 3rd button... but since the mandrels aren't attached to the handle it is so easy to get the buttons off and you only have to pay for the handle once... and the way it is now you can play with the plasticine if you can't think of any beads to make..... Jill and I will go pick up our beads this morning, I'm not sure if anyone else is 'local'....
